I joined the Navy from High School going to boot camp in San Diego,CA on 5 Jan 1959 after traning went to my first command the Heavy Cruiser USS. Saint Paul CA-73 in Long Beach,CA finding out the ship was going to be Com Seventh Fleet Fag ship stationed in Yokosuka,Japan for three years and the crew were voluntary assinged.  We left for West Pac in earley May of 59 and I was transfered in the middle of Dec with orders to report to USS. Floyd B. Parks on Jan 5,1960 in San Diego assigned to deck division later into engineering R-Div as a Damage Controlman making 3 or 4 West Pac Cruises and going thru Fram in Bermington,WA.  I left the Parks as a DC2 in August of 1964 after four and half years on board and was assigned to school at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC for diving training upon completion my dutys was on various diving ships and at shore diving commands (consisting of under water salvage and repair work).  With a total of seven ships includ ing 2 man-o-wars and 5 diving ship as well with 4 shore duty commands.  Retireing from the Navy off  the USS.Frank Cable AS-40 a Submarine Tender in Charleston, SC  on Jan 31,1989 as a E-9 with 30 years and 29 days of faithful Naval Service.  I captained a small civilian tug, pushing barge in SC and GA. for 9 years retireing completly in 2000.  By far the most memorable time of my career was the time on board the Parks, good-Ship, good-Crew, good-Times.  My first reunion was in Seattle, Wa in 1998. I look forward to Sept for our crews and shipmates to Reunite at Parks Ship Reunions.
