San Antonio, Texas
Reunion 2009
"IT WAS AWESOME"
EVERYONE HAD A GREAT TIME
WOW!..another tremendous reunion. Everyone showed up in force. We had 100 shipmates, 4 honorary shipmates and families for a total at the greatest peak of 220 people. It sure can't get much better than that but we will try hard to match and beat that next year.
The "Fiesta" night turned our wonderful and thats the night that we celebrated Robbys 80th birthday. He was totally surprised and happy. Thanks to all who participated. The but trip on Saturday was just amazing.
The ceremony at the Nimitz Museum in the Memorial Garden was very moving and memorable. Captain Gene Erner raised the drape to reveal the plaque dedicated to all Parks shipmates and it will forever hang on the Memorial wall at the museum. The Enchanted Springs Ranch was great to see with many store fronts that are used in movie making.
The "cute" guys who last year wore the "Pick On Sue" t-shirts received their payback in the form of an arrest warrant by the sheriff and from then on it got really great. They wore ladies hats with flowers, boas etc. and did the can can. They went to jail. You will be able to see all of this in the pictures.
Sunday started off with the mens business meeting followed by a local den of cub scouts presenting the colors just before our Chaplain, Harry Brantleys worship service. The banquet dinner was beautiful and all 156 raffle prizes were won.
If you couldnt make it to San Antonio please keep Sept. 13-20, 2010 open and plan on being in Boise, Idaho for next years reunion. Lets all participate and support your Floyd B. Parks assn. We hope to see you then.
