--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sam, I'm not just to sure what to tell you. I had gone aboard the Floyd
B. on, or around Nov. 1st. of 1970. I hadn't never been away from home
other than going to Boot Camp in Great Lakes. It was a thrill for me at
that time to be sent to San Diego. I had always been brought up in a
town with a population of 250, and that might have been counting the
dogs and cats too. Ha! Ha! As you might be able to tell, I've always
been quite a joker. I have always been the type of person that enjoyed
people who I have worked around. Some of the best people I met was
aboard the Parks.

My best friend I have ever had is Mike Minor. Minor
and I met as soon as we both went aboard the Parks. Minor stayed in the
Navy and retired after 28 years. He and his wife lives in Pensacola,
Florida. I've kicked myself many of times for leaving the Navy. We still
are in contact with each other everyday. We visit each other twice a
year. My wife and I go to Pensacola, Fl. / Gulf Shores, Al. every year.
Let me tell you Sam, we do "vacation" that one week.

After leaving the Navy I returned back to my home town. Got a job that I
didn't like, and got married. We moved to Norfolk, Va. and lived there
for a few years and came back to Illinois.

I'm married for the second time and we have three children, and four
Grandchildren. My wife is a wonderful lady that I have known ever since
the first grade in school. She is employed with Champion Laboratory in
Albion, IL. and I have been employed with the Wabash County Sheriff's
Department going on fifteen years. Our Sheriff's Office is located in Mt.
Carmel, Illinois.

I really enjoy hearing from the crew members of the Floyd B. Parks. I
have some great memories of the time I had spent while aboard the
Parks. I haven't many pictures left of my "Navy days" since my first wife had
burned most of mine after we had gotten married. You would have thought
they were x-rated pictures, but they weren't. Ha! Ha! They were pictures
of me and my Buddies just having a good time.

Sam, I need to get off of here. If this isn't what you need just let me
know.
