From: Tincan826@aol.com Save Address | Headers The pictures of the men, Mr. Stoneman was the best Friend I ever had, Mr. LaBodie was also a good friend the others were shipmates and or shipboard friends. The shots of the USS Albert David & USS Turner Joy were from The oiler, they came along side right after the Parks and I believe non of the Parks crewmen even saw them. At that time the Parks was heavily engaged in NGFS shoot all night refuel and replenish ammo by day it was some experience no one ever slept unfortunately I dont remember where or at what we were shooting at, except that we fired a lot of flare and starshells. The USS Dixie photo I took in Hong Kong while serving aboard USS Agerholm DD826, but I feel that since the Dixie was loved by every can sailor she should be included, all the rest were taken on board the Parks. The pix of the 26 planes was in Aug. 69 outside Hawaii on the way to Nam, it was a fly by salute from the pilots of the USS Constellation. The officer being lowered from the Helo I believe was Admiral Anderson, but I wont swear to it Mr. Stoneman might remember the admirals name. I knew I was in a history making era and I bought the cameras to help me remember the experience if you have specific questions about any photo please let me know since the photos themselves trigger off memories, I also wrote something about the subject on the back of the pics. All the pictures were taken by me, the patch is a real Parks patch which I scanned. I have more pics and would send them to, they include some more crew pictures some of other ships and some scenic pictures. Please forgive me if i send you the same pictures more than once I dont always know if you get them or which ones I already sent. thank you Joseph Leicht |
