LST 325 was moored at Alexandria, VA, during Memorial Day
weekend. Darla and I went on an inspection trip and wanted to share these
photos with you.
LST 325 is an amazing story. It was launched in 1942 and saw service in
WWll (made D-Day landings at Omaha Beach). It was transferred to Greece
in 1964 and served in the Greek Navy until 1999. In 2000 she was acquired
by the US Ship Memorial, Inc. (saved from a Greek scrap yard). LST 325
was sailed back from Greece by a skeleton crew of 29 US Navy veterans,
average age 72, to Mobile, AL, a journey of 6200 miles.
We had a chance to visit with several of the crew and their stories are
inspiring. They have lots of pride in LST325 and in their service in the
US Navy.

Over 3,000 men died at
Omaho Beach. May we never forget. Thanks for sending
the photos and helping us remember those brave men of WWII.
